With a continuous coastline spanning 11km, the project is divided into three core zones: North Beach, Trade Centre, and South Beach, featuring residential communities, hotels, and attractions

A major new coastal development, “Downtown Umm Al Quwain”, was launched on Friday. Officials unveiled the ambitious project, a 25 million sq ft masterplan that will reshape the emirate’s urban and economic landscape.

The new development includes a continuous coastline spanning 11km, featuring 7km of natural beaches and parks. Designed as a mixed-use destination, the project is divided into three core zones: North BeachTrade Centre, and South Beach. These areas will feature residential communities, commercial centres, office spaces, hotels, and recreational attractions.

One of the central features of the project is the Trade Centre, a 15 million sq ft free zone operating under an independent legal framework. The Government of Umm Al Quwain say it is set to become a leading global destination for business, cultural exchange, and investment opportunities.

The announcement was made during an official ceremony led by Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Quwain and Chairman of the Executive Council. Speaking at the launch, he highlighted the role of large-scale investment projects in supporting the emirate’s economy and attracting new commercial opportunities.

“Downtown Umm Al Quwain” is being developed in partnership with Sobha Realty, with the first phase to include homes, offices, and hospitality offerings. The project aims to house over 150,000 residents once completed.

PNC Menon, Founder of Sobha Group, remarked, “Downtown UAQ is not merely a project, but a vision brought to life. Rooted in our philosophy of the Art of the Detail, we are proud to partner with the Government of Umm Al Quwain to create a destination that embodies innovation, sustainability, and serene luxury.”

Around half of the development’s land will be dedicated to green areas, walkways, and parks, with infrastructure designed to support environmental sustainability.

The Government of Umm Al Quwain described the project as a step forward in positioning Umm Al Quwain as a competitive and attractive destination for investors, residents, and tourists alike.
